How
much will a website cost?
This really will depend on the content of your website. We have
chosen not to use the option of set packages whereby you may be
paying for things you do not require. When you ask for a quote
we will look at your individual requirements and then provide
you with a price that you can be assured will be competitive.
As
a rough guide a basic, custom designed, 5 page website can cost as little as £250
whilst a basic web shop using PayPal as the payment processor
could cost in the region of £400. It must be stated though
that these are ballpark figures and could be more or less depending
on what you need.
How
long will my website take to be developed?
Again, there is not a single answer to this question. At the time
of providing you with a quote we will give you a timeframe within
which we will complete your site. Assuming there are no circumstances
outside our control and requirements are not changed, we will
make sure we complete the project within this timeframe. Any delays
will be notified to you at an early a stage as possible.
If
you need a basic site in a real hurry we could have it completed
within 24 hours, though you will need to check on the availability
of this service when contacting
us.
Do
you provide web hosting?
We do not host websites ourselves; we believe this is best left
to the specialist hosting providers. What we will do is ensure
that a hosting company and package is chosen to suit your site’s
requirements and arrange and setup the hosting for you. If you
have already arranged hosting then that’s no problem, we
can use your own hosting provider.
We’d
like a site designed, how do we go about it?
The first thing to do is contact
us with your requirements. Try and explain as much as possible
about what you’d like included on your site, whether it’s
just a basic site or if you require eCommerce functionality. We
will then get back to you with either a quote or asking for more
details. If you prefer we can call you back, just make sure you
leave us your phone number and we’ll get back to you.
Once
your requirements are finalised and you receive a quote you are
happy with, you will need to return a web design agreement and
an initial deposit (the deposit percentage will depend on the
overall cost of the project). Please provide us with any files
such as images or text that you wish to be included and we’ll
begin the development process. We’ll usually provide you
with a couple of initial designs from which you can choose your
favourite. We’ll then complete the design process, leaving
you with a website that you’re sure to be happy with.
I
currently need a site that needs updating, can you do that?
Yes, just contact
us with your requirements and we’ll get back to you
with a quote. Whether you just need a few images to be changed
or a major redesign, we’ll be able to provide you with what
you need.
Do
you use templates?
No, our sites are custom designed. Templates are
fine if you are building a basic site for yourself, but you should
expect more if you are paying a web design company to create your
site.
How
can I pay for your services?
We accept payment by cheque drawn on a Sterling bank account.
We can also take credit cards, using PayPal as our payment providers.
We will email you more details of how to pay when we send you
an invoice.
Where
are you based?
We are based in the historic town of Battle, East Sussex. If you
are local to us we are happy to come and visit to advise on website
requirements.
Can
you create a Chinese version of my website?
Yes, if you currently have a website in English that you would
like to be in Chinese as well, we can do that for you. You may
decide that you only need certain pages in Chinese, or that you
just want a one page ‘fact’ page in Chinese. Whatever
you need, we’ll provide you with a competitive quote.
Can
you create a Chinese website from scratch?
Yes we can. Provide us with your requirements and we’ll
develop a well-designed, Chinese website you can be proud of.
How
much does it cost to translate my site into Chinese?
An accurate cost will be provided to you in a quote. However,
as a rough guide, if a straight translation of your site is required,
we will charge approximately 10p per word. However, this will
depend on the number of words and the content of the site. For
example, the per word translation cost for technical sites will
be slightly higher. There will also be a minimum charge for this service.
What’s
the difference between Mandarin Chinese and Cantonese?
When referring to the spoken Chinese language, there are two main
variants; Mandarin and Cantonese. As a spoken language they are
very different with Cantonese spoken in Hong Kong and some parts
of mainland China, and Mandarin spoken in Taiwan and the majority
of mainland China. However, the written forms of the language
are almost identical, meaning you do not have to make a decision
whether you require a Cantonese or Mandarin Chinese site.
However,
there are two forms of written Chinese; one employing simplified
characters and the other employing traditional characters. For
the most part a person in a country such as Taiwan that uses traditional
characters will be able to read simplified characters and vice
versa. Whether you wish to use simplified or traditional characters
on your site will largely depend upon your target market. Traditional
characters are used throughout Taiwan and Hong Kong whilst simplified
characters are used within mainland China. You may wish to have
two versions of your site; simplified and traditional, though
often this will be unnecessary. We have chosen to use traditional
characters for the Chinese section of our website.
Can
you help us create Chinese business cards, leaflets etc?
Yes, we are able to work with a number of designers and printers
to provide you with Chinese language stationery, literature etc. Contact us with
your requirements or questions and we’ll get back to you
